Back in 1998 I remember being invited to London in order to appear on Good Morning Britain with Eamonn Holmes immediately followed by This Morning with Richard Madeley. My eldest daughter Jessica accompanied me to London the previous night and we were put up in a hotel somewhere in Drury Lane in order to be close to the studios for the broadcasts the following morning.
When I awoke that morning I was immediately filled with a sense of trepidation, here I was an inexperienced interviewee about to appear on not one, but two live TV shows watched presumably by millions of viewers in order to answer questions about a recent incident in my life which led to me being dragged through the courts for low flying in Salisbury with an engine strapped to my back and a paraglider above my head.
I jumped in the bath and prayed, “Lord, help, what am I going to say?!”. I then calmed down and did what I was accustomed to do -read a daily reading from the Book of Proverbs, one of the Wisdom books of the Old Testament.
Like today it was the 16th of the month and so I turned to the corresponding chapter and this was what I read, “The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.” I instantly new that God had answered my brief but fervent prayer and would prepare both the questions which they asked me, and the answers I would give.
Peace reigned and all was well in my spirit. I think the interviews went well, but judge for yourself – HERE
Are you in need of God helping you through an interview or some other ‘fiery trial’? Then do as I did and ask Him, after all, He is an ever present help in trouble.
